Samsung push service is basically a function by which Samsung users get the update and other notifications (read spammy ads and offers) for default Samsung apps. Whenever an update released by Samsung for any of its apps, users get a message (or badge) on their notification bar. This service is specifically for the Samsung-only apps and services, not Google or other third-party apps. If you’re a Samsung Android user, this app is already installed in your phone by default. However, if you’re not getting any notification or you think the app got corrupted somehow, you can download Samsung Push Service apk from some sites which host app files.
So what exactly is a push message? This is a notification which can appear on your mobile screen and notification bar even when the particular app is closed or inactive. There are two kinds of push notifications. One appears on your notification bar which you can easily swipe off, or you can tap on that to interact with it. Another type is more intrusive, it gets displayed on your screen, and you have to interact with it by tapping on any of the options provided, like yes or no, accept or decline, etc. (unless you tap on the “home” button)
Samsung push service is certainly not the aggressive type, it typically comes to your notification bar, and you can swipe it off or just ignore it if you don’t want to interact with the notification.
While occasional push notification does no significant harm, it can, of course, interrupt with the overall user experience, especially when these notifications are unsolicited. Samsung is known to install lots of bloatware which are hard to uninstall, as they come as factory-installed system apps. Getting notification from such unwanted apps is a pain in the ass, to say the least. Further, Samsung sometimes sends ads of other non-related product and services too, which is technically no less than spam.
Is there any way to get rid of Samsung push service notification? There is actually a very easy way to avoid getting Samsung notifications. When the phone boots for the first time, it has to be “set up” before the user can start using the phone. And there are options where the user has to choose whether he wants to get such notifications or not. If the user just unchecks that option, chances are there will be no such notifications on that phone ever. However, most people do not read every option carefully while setting up the phone for the first time and just keep pressing “next” with all the default options checked.
In case you weren’t careful enough while setting up, you can now change your settings on the device to prevent Samsung push service delivering unsolicited notifications. First, go to “settings”, find “apps”, tap on that and tap on “show system apps”. There you’ll find “Samsung push service.” Now, tap on “app notifications,” it should be on the “on” mode – toggle that to “off”.
Now, back to the main “settings” menu, tap on “apps”, find “Samsung push service” from the list of installed apps, and tap on “disable” button.
